The first move of the Palestine government to inaugurate social legislation was made when the workmen’s compensation ordinance was promulgated yesterday.
According to the ordinance, which will apply not only to workers employed in private enterprises but also in government undertakings, the employers are to pay to the family of a worker, in case of his death, a maximum of Â£250, and in case of disability from injuries received while at work a maximum of 150 piastres weekly during the entire period of his disability.
