The “Jewish Daily Bulletin” has secured from Moscow, the full text of the address delivered on November 17, 1926, by Michael Kalinin, president of the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, at the conference of the Ozet, the society for Jewish colonization, held in Moscow. The echoes of this address, as reported throughout the world, caused considerable interest and gave rise to an interpretation that the Jewish colonization work in Soviet Russia may lead to the creation of what was termed a “Jewish republic.” A scrutiny of the text of the report shows that although the Soviet president in his address recognized the national element in this project, he did not specifically mention the words “Jewish republic” as was already reported by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

The full text of the address is therefore of particular interest.
