Jewish and Arab parties will work together in the forthcoming municipal elections in Jerusalem as a result of an agreement concluded here yesterday.
Following protracted negotiations, the Jerusalem Jewish community concluded an election agreement with both Arab parties, that of the present mayor, Nashishibi, and El Husseini. Support for the candidates of both parties is a part of the agreement. Nashishibi and Husseini, who is the secretary of the anti-Zionist Palestine Arab Executive, have made declarations favorable to the Jewish population.
The register of voters from the municipal elections in Jerusalem showed, when completed, 1,463 Moslem voters, 1,227 Jews and 830 Christians.
In Haifa, the Electoral Committee announced on completion of the registration, that 4,590 voters had registered, including 1,915 Moslems, 1,856 Christians and 819 Jews. Appeals from those whose names have been omitted will be heard by the Committee after the register has been published.
