Several churches and synagogues in Ukrainian towns were ordered closed by the Ukrainian Communist government.
In explaining this action the authorities stated that the churches and synagogues serve the religious needs of the bourgeois elements and not those of the toilers. The confiscated buildings will be converted into workingmen’s clubs.
