A Gitlin, Jewish publisher in this city, was sentenced to two months unconditional imprisonment for issuing a collection of Yiddish labor songs.

The collection called “Der Arbeiter Deklamator” was published in 1923. In 1926 the book was confiscated by the Warsaw authorities, the reason being the inclusion of “the Oath,” the hymn of the Jewish labor party. Bund, and labor songs by Abraham Raisin and S. Ansky.

The case was tried yesterday by the Warsaw district court. The state attorney demanded a sentence of three years. The confiscation of the book was confirmed by the court.

The publisher will appeal to the higher court.
