Police intervention was necessary to protect Rabbi Shapiro, the Chassidic Rebbe of Muncaz, Carpatho-Russia, Czechoslovakia, who was on a visit here.

His adversaries, the followers of the Chassidic Rebbe of Belz. with whom he has been engaged in a long drawn out acrimonious controversy, learning of his whereabouts in the city, gathered before the house, throwing stones and shouting: “Rosho” (sinner). Police dispersed the mob and placed a guard at the house until his departure.
