The Government intends to introduce certain important changes in its policy with relation to the minorities, the “Cuvintul” here reports. A special commission, it says, has already drawn up a minorities statutes and in the fall the Government will convoke a conference of representatives of all parties for the purpose of ratifying these statutes.

Minister of Education Angelescu, the paper further states, has agreed that the State should provide subsidies for the minorities’ schools, but only for those which function in the minority districts. It has also been decided that the minority languages should be allowed to be used both orally and in writing in the local authority administrations.

It is not known whether these provisions will also apply to the Jewish population. No definite statement to this effect has been made and Jewish leaders who are close to the Government have no information on the subject.
