Hungarian Court’s Suit Repercussion of Recent University Excesses (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
The Hungarian Upper Chamber overrode the recommendation of its committee on Senator’s immunity and lifted the immunity of Joseph Veszi, life member of the Senate, to allow court action brought against him by Count Teleki, leader of anti-Semitic forces.
The suit sprang out of an article published in the “Pester Lloyd” of which Senator Veszi is publisher, charging Count Teleki with instigating the anti-Semitic student excesses in the universities.
Senator Veszi was appointed life member of the Chamber by a decree of Admiral Horthy, Regent of Hungary, in recognition of the publisher’s services to Hungary on the occasion of his fiftieth anniversary as publisher of the influential paper.
