The Executive Committee of the Jewish Council of Greater New York, the New York division of the American Jewish Congress, issued a statement expressing confidence in Z. Tygel, Executive Director of the Federation of Polish Jews in America, and Vice-President of the Jewish Council.
Mr. Tygel was criticized by some of the Jewish papers in the United States and in Poland in connection with his recent trip to Poland on behalf of the Federation.
Following an investigation, the statement said, the Council adopted resolutions expressing full confidence in Mr. Tygel and approving his course of action in Poland.
The Executive Committee, based its findings on a cablegram received from Senator Davidson, Acting President of the Kolo and Deputy Hartglass, Ex-President of the Kolo, which declared that “Mr. Tygel did nothing contrary to the wishes of the Jewish leaders or against Jewish interests.”
