The announcement of pledges totalling $117,227 at a dinner Monday night practically assured the erection of a new synagogue for the Ansche Chesed congregation of Erie, Pa. Samuel D. Ostrow, general chairman, presided.

It had been planned to raise more than 60 per cent of the $135,000 quota at the initial meeting, but the figures passed this mark.

The cost of construction will exceed $165,000. David A. Brown was the principal speaker at the dinner.
