A Jewish general and maternity hospital will be the objective for which a one-half million dollar campaign will be launched in Montreal shortly. A committee has been appointed to arrange for this campaign.
Dr. Max Wiseman, president of the provisional committee of the Jewish General and Maternity Hospital, announced that the objective set was $500,000 and of this pledges amounting to $100,000 had been made by the loan syndicates of the city; $35,000 from the funds of the Hebrew Maternity Hospital of Montreal, which is now closed; $20,000 from the Montreal Clinical Society, whose membership includes 75 Jewish physicians; and $10,000 from the Sir Herbert Samuel Hospital Society. This total of $165,000 already pledged together with the $200,000 grant which might be expected from the Quebec Provincial Government, leaves a balance of $135,000 to be raised in the forthcoming campaign.
