A third group of Jews who died from wounds received was taken last night from the Hadassah hospital and buried in a common grave on the Mount of Olives Cemetery near the grave of Eliezar Ben Yehudah.
The bodies of the Jews killed at Hebron were brought to Jerusalem. They were so mutilated, noses and ears being cut off and abdomens opened, that the authorities ordered that no one be permitted to view them. Among the mutilated bodies were those of the eight American Jewish students at the Hebron Slobodka Yeshiva.
As more details are becoming known of the bestial attacks and inhuman massacres perpetrated by the Moslem Arabs against the defenseless Jews, the barbarity of the events comes into stark relief.
SEPHARDIC RABBI BURNED ALIVE
Eye witnesses who survived the Hebron massacre report that Rabbi Castili, 60 years old, who was a victim during the massacre at Hebron, was burned alive by the savage Arabs.
Rabbi Orlansky of the colony Zichron Jacob came to Hebron on Friday to attend the wedding of his daughter. Only 1 Jew was killed in Hebron on Friday, the others being slaughtered on Saturday. The massacre lasted one and a half hours.
A summary of the total of dead and wounded made here at eight o’clock Monday evening, showed the following:
Jerusalem: 20 Jews killed, 8 died of wounds, 40 wounded.
Tel Aviv: 6 killed, 32 wounded.
Haifa: 3 Jews killed, 1 Christian; 2 Jews died of wounds, 45 wounded.
Hebron: 59 Jews killed, 60 wounded.
Beisan: 21 Jews wounded.
Dr. Wolfgang von Weisl, who was a member of the self-defense corps and was stabbed in the fight, was operated on Tuesday. There is hope that he may live.
POLISH CONSUL-GENERAL WOUNDED
The Polish Consul-General at Jerusalem, Mr. Zbyszewski, who called at the Hadassah hospital to express the sympathies of his government and of the diplomatic corps at Jerusalem, was wounded. His condition is serious.
GRUESOME DETAILS RELATED
Gruesome treatment has accompanied the assaults and massacres in the various Palestinian centers. The Arabs knew no distinction of age or sex. Women were violated.
CHRISTIAN ARABS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH MOSLEMS
It should be noted that the massacres and assaults perpetrated on the Jews of Palestine during the past five days have been the work of the Moslem Arabs only. Contrary to the circumstances of the 1921 riots, the Christian Arabs were not in league with the Moslem Arabs in the present uprising. Recently, because of local politics and religious differences, the gulf between the Christian Arabs and the Moslem Arabs has widened.
