After Rabbi Dr. Castel-Bolognese had read out an appeal from Chief Rabbi Kook of Palestine urging that at least the Sabbath and the Passover festival and the principle of Kashruth should be publicly respected in Palestine and that Jewish education in the Palestine Jewish schools should not be conducted on lines in opposition to Jewish religious teaching.

the Annual Conference of the Italian Zionist Federation, which has just been concluded at Ferrara, has unanimously instructed its delegates to the Seventeenth Zionist Congress to back this appeal at the Congress.

The retiring President, Dr. Dante Lattes, dwelt on the deep and eternal basis of Zionism, which links it with the Messianic hopes of the Jewish people.

Rabbi Leoni of Ferrara welcomed the Conference in the name of the local Jewish Community, and Dr. Ravenna welcomed it in the name of the newly-created Federation of Jewish Communities of Italy. The Secretary, Dr. Nahon, submitted a report on the work of the Zionist Federation during the past year. Reports were also presented on the activities of the Keren Hayesod and the Jewish National Fund, and the upbuilding work in Palestine.

Advocate Viterbo was elected President of the Italian Zionist Federation in succession to Professor Dante Lattes, whose name is being inscribed by the Federation in the Golden Book of the Jewish National Fund, in recognition of his services to the Zionist cause during the many years of his Zionist activity.
