Austrian resorts which attract extensive patronage during the summer months are the particular targets of a propaganda campaign organized by the Nazis of Austria. This boycott is an answer to the official prohibition of Nazi propaganda which was promulgated to insure the safety and peace of mind of the holiday-makers, many of them Jews from America and Europe.
At the same time Nazi chiefs in isolated communities have joined the boycott, declaring that they would prohibit German Jews from visiting the summer resorts of their communities.
The liberal section of the Austrian press demands that the government explain why it should be tolerating this agitation, considering the economic loss which it may entail. The same section of the press urges that more vigorous protests against the government’s attitude be organized throughout West Austria, where the population is largely dependent during the year on the money tourists spend there during the summer.
