In its program of supplying beef to the nation’s jobless, the Federal Emergency Relief Administration will not provide kosher meat for those Jews who adhere to the dietary laws, it was learned from the administration.
The meat which the administration will supply for relief will be canned. It was stated that there are no funds available with which to secure kosher meat, and therefore no possibility of meeting religious requirements.
Under Harry L. Hopkins, Relief Administrator, and president of the federal surplus relief corporation, fifteen million pounds of domestic beef will be bought for relief distribution.
