B. C. Vladeck, member of the New York City Housing Authority, explained the terrible conditions existing in American cities’ slum areas at a hearing of the Senate Committee on Labor and Education today.

Arguing for the LaFollette $10,000,000,000 Federal appropriation for a proper nationwide housing program, Vladeck marshalled facts to show the cost in money, health and bad social effects of slum areas in New York and elsewhere.
