The American Fascist Union, with headquarters in the Riverside section of the city, has purchased uniforms and members will wear them in future parades the Jewsih Daily Bulletin learned today.
The organization, which is not recognized by the Italian Fascists, has for its leader a Newark man. Members of the organization claim the leader is Italian, although his name is Stern, or Schturn, and is German in appearance. The Fascists are being drilled by an Italian who, it is reported, was at one time getting $160 compensaton from the United States government.
Few Jews live in the neighborhood. One stationery store owned by Jews and within a few feet of the Fascist headquarters has not been bothered by the club. However, the owner of the store declared to the Bulletin correspondent that there “is no doubt but that they will become a German organization.”
