Decline of the local unit of the Friends of New Germany to a mere handful as a result of recent setbacks is being forecast by local Germans.

A heavy blow was given the “Friends” when the Federation of German Societies refused to invite them to participate in the huge annual “German Day” celebration. This was in marked contrast to other cities, where Nazis have controlled such celebrations.

The recent communist invasion and disruption of a Nazi meeting has frightened many members of the “Friends” and will have the effect, it is said, of keeping the week-kneed sympathizers away from Nazi rallies hereafter.

On top of that, the Hitler slaughter has shattered whatever remaining prestige the local Nazi organization has had. The “Friends” had made “unity of the German people” their big talking point. Now with that unity smashed abroad, the stock-in-trade of the “Friends” has depreciated considerably.

Since the communist attack no public meeting has been held by the organization.
