Der Stuermer, the organ of Julius Streicher, friend of Hitler and governor of Franconia, has been suppressed for two weeks because of an article entitled “The Boycott of German Goods by Jews in the United States,” which contained the statement that President Franklin D. Roosevelt had eleven Jews in his Cabinet. “Roosevelt is not a Jew, but everything around him is Jewish, added the author of that article in the Stuermer, stating, however, that “eleven ministries in the United States government are filled by Jews, including the War, Navy and Aviation Ministries.”
And the Stuermer storms on:
“New York is the chief center of atrocity propaganda. So it was during the World War, and so it is today. The leader of the great Jewish boycott movement against German goods in the United States is a Jew, Samuel Untermyer.
“A small minority of 100,000 German Americans, who have sworn themselves into an economic organization, are holding out against all these miserable Jews.
“May these lines be a warning to those German patriots who still buy goods in Jewish shops or Jewish department stores in the Third Reich. He who buys from a Jew is not merely hurting his country but is a traitor to his country.”
The Stuermer was also suppressed for two weeks by Chancellor Hitler because of an article in that weekly journal which attacked President Masaryk of Czechoslovakia. President Masaryk was described as half Jewish and was denounced for that reason. The journal was confiscated on the ground that it contained an offensive attack on the head of a foreign government.
Streicher, the publisher of the Stuermer, Hitler, Goebbels, Rosenberg and company, suffering from the most malignant form of Judophobia, blamed the Jews for all the ills that had befallen the German people.
When they seized power in Germany by means of the most pernicious falsehoods and the most extravagant promises to improve the economic and political position of Germany, they started a series of ruthless and savage persecutions of the Jews. To this day the Stuermer is still inciting the German masses against the Jews by harping on the forged “Protocols of the Wise Men of Zion” and by reviving the ritual murder myth.
And now that Germany is feeling so acutely the effects of the anti-German economic boycott, which is Jewish only to a comparatively small extent, the Nazi Jew-baiters are whining. In their terror they see only Jews everywhere. Thus the Roosevelt Cabinet is to them completely Jewish. President Masaryk, of Czechoslovakia, the great liberal, democratic statesman, who years ago exposed the falsity of the ritual murder accusations against the Jews in the notorious Hilsner case, is to them also a Jew, or a half Jew. Most of the violent Nazi Jew-baiters, indeed, belong in a psychopathic ward.

The Nazi “patriots” seem to have forgotten that during the World War, before the United States had been drawn into the War mainly because of the German submarine warfare, a vast number of the Jews in America were sympathetic to Germany for the reason that Tsarist Russia of the bloody pogroms was one of the Allied powers. The Jews could not believe in the justice of the Allied cause so long as Tsar Nicholas and his Black Hundreds fought for that justice, and many of the Jews expressed their hope for the victory of the Germans.
That attitude was changed as soon as the Tsarist autocracy was overthrown and as soon as the United States entered the war on the side of the Allies.
The Nazi Jew-baiters are continuing their ven#mous attacks on the Jews of Germany, warning the “Aryans” against buying goods in the German Jewish shops, and declaring that “he who buys from a Jew is not merely hurting his country but is a traitor to his country.”
The Nazis are proceeding with their policy of vengeance against the Jews of Germany even though they know that the German Jews have been pleading with their brethren abroad not to boycott German goods
At the memorial services for the late President Hindenburg, Reichsbishop Ludwig Mueller preached a sermon in which he said that Hindenburg’s last words to him were:
“See that Christ is preached in Germany.”
And Reischsbishop Mueller, the Nazi dictator in the Protestant church in Germany, added:
“That was the legacy of the President to me. I pledge myself in this solemn hour, before God and the entire Evangelical people, that it will be my first and last desire to see to it that Christ is preached in Germany.”
We would suggest that on the day Adolf Hitler will elevate himself to the post of Fuehrer and Chancellor, after the Nazi-manipulated elections in Germany, all the Christian ministers in Germany preach Christ by merely repeating Christ’s reply to one of the Scribes who asked Jesus: “What is the first of all the commandments?” Jesus’ answer was:
“Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord, is one: and thou shalt love thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul. . . This is the first commandment and the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
If Germany will preach and practice Christ in the spirit of these commandments, there will be no room for barbarian Hitlerism.
