A joint meeting of American rabbinical bodies, including the Agudath HaRabbanim, the Vaad HaRabbanim, and the alumni of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary has issued a call for the seminary’s support. The following resolution was passed:

“Whereas, the Yeshiva Rabbi Isaac Elchanan, which fulfills in this land the functions and traditions of the Yeshivoth of all ages, by transplanting Torah and Jewish idealism into the American community, under present conditions finds itself in deep financial distress.

“We, American rabbis, call upon all congregations, through their spiritual and lay leadership, to dedicate one day during the coming High Holidays to a public plea that this essential institution in the life of American Israel be permitted to function without financial handicap, and with the material as well as spiritual support of those it serves.”

A similar appeal for the collection of funds for the Yeshiva during the High Holidays has been issued by The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America.
