Over 100 houses in Izmir (formerly Smyrna), once the property of Greek Jews who were expelled from Turkey, were confiscated today by the authorities without any reasons being advanced for the act.

According to officials, the former owners will receive no compensation whatever.

An exchange of population took place immediately after the Turks under Mustapha Kemal Pasha, now known as “The Ghazi,” conquered the Greeks, practically annihilating the Greek army at Smyrna.
