An anti-Jewish demonstration was staged in Duesseldorf today in front of Jewish stores as a result of the increased anti-Jewish propaganda carried by the local Nazi press.

The local Nazi newspapers in Duesseldorf directed their propaganda especially against Jewish hotels and kosher restaurants. They expressed indignation that the spas are still including kosher hotels in the lists of accommodations.

OWNERS CLOSE SHOPS

Threatening to smash the windows of Jewish firms, the mobs were especially violent in front of stores where kosher food is sold. The proprietors were compelled to close up hurriedly in order to avoid serious attacks.

In Dessau, the local authorities today ordered the removal of a statue of Moses Mendelsohn. A military monument is to be erected in its place.

ENFORCE NEW EDICT

In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Interior that the names of all Jewish institutions in Germany should start with the word “Jewish,” the Berlin Chief of Police today ordered the Kulturbund of German Jews to change its name to “Jewish Kulturbund.”

The Kulturbund is the only Jewish cultural organization permitted in Germany. It established a special theatre for Jews which is known by the Nazis as the Ghetto Theatre and to which no “Aryan” is permitted to enter, by order of the Nazi authorities.

In Frankfurt-am-Main the Jewish Seminary named after Martin Buber, the famous Jewish philosopher and spiritual leader, will open its Summer courses on May
