A delegation from the Shomrei Sabbath (Sabbath Observers) will visit the Italian Embassy this week, it was announced today, to protest against the arrest of 214 Jews in Tripoli and flogging of three for closing their shops on Saturday.
Accounts of the action of the Italian provincial authorities in punishing the Jews under a law requiring that stores remain open on Saturday were prominently featured in orthodox Jewish newspapers.
