The Government press today condemned “the attempt to create a Jewish problem” in connection with a campaign for an anti-Jewish boycott launched in universities by Senator Abd-el-Meguid. The Senator interpellated the Government in Parliament regarding Jewish usurers, land speculation and Jewish refugees, who, he said, “are coming to Egypt like locusts, causing unemployment.” The press hailed the announcement of Premier Mohammed Mahmoud Pasha that Egypt is closed to refugees and that only six of them have been admitted in the past three years.
