Artur Rubinstein, internationally known Polish Jewish pianist, today announced cancellation of a contract to play in Italy during the coming season. Citing the Italian Government’s anti-Jewish policy, the pianist at the same time returned to Premier Benito Mussolini the cross of a Commander of the Italian Crown which had been awarded to him for his musical accomplishments.
