Palestine today had its quietest day in weeks after British war planes had dealt a crushing blow to Arab terrorism by annihilating a large band north of jerusalem, killing or wounding 170.

The 400 armed terrorists were surprised 20 kilometers northwest of Ramallah yesterday by 13 Royal Air Force planes which circled the band to prevent them from scattering and then let loose with bombs and withering machine-gun fire. Several of the planes were struck by Arabs’ bullets, but all returned to their base without mishap. Many army cars went to the spot today to remove the wounded.

Another II Arabs were slain when a plane patrolling in the vicinity of Latrun swooped down on a band of 18. A Jew was killed last night in an Arab raid on the Gan Hashomer colony in the Sharon Valley. He was Jeremiah Godard, 24, son of a Tel Aviv attorney.
