Jews who have been deprived of their Rumanian citizenship will have to pay 1,000,000 lei annually in alien taxes in the city of Czernowitz alone, it was estimated today. The minimum per capita tax is about 2,000 lei. The situation in the provinces in this respect is even worse. Many denaturalized Jews in Radauti have been arrested because they were unable to pay the tax. They face to the prospect of forced labor on public works projects, at the lowest wage scale, to pay off the tax debt.
