Nathan Marein, a Jewish lawyer from the United States, left here yesterday for Addis Ababa to assume the post of legal adviser to Haile Selassie, the emperor of Ethiopia. He was given an impressive farewell reception by leaders of the Abyssinian community.

During the Italian occupation of Ethiopia, Marein, as legal consultant to the Abyssinian consulate here, successfully thwarted Italian attempts to secure possession of Ethiopian holdings in Palestine. He lived in America before World War I and came to Palestine during the war to join the Jewish Legion with which he fought. After the war he returned to America where he studied law and subsequently returned here. His wife still lives in Boston, Mass.
