Gestapo Leaders Who Directed Murder of Jews Captured in Poland by Survivors

Bertold Gross, Nazi “liquidator” of the Jewish ghetto in Kosow, Galicia, who is directly responsible for the murder of 4,000 Kosow Jews, was arrested this week in Jelenia Gora, the former Silesian town of Hirschberg, after being recognized in the street by a Jewish woman whose child he had buried alive in a Mass-grave, after tearing it from her arms.

Johann Groegel, another Nazi war criminal, responsible for mass-minder of 3,000 Jews in Zolkiew, was recognized in Jawor, Silesia, where he was living in luxury on money and valuables looted from Jews. He is now awaiting trial in a Polish court.

Polish security police also arrested in Jelenia Gora 25-year-old Irena Frydryszak, who was a Nazi supervisor in the Ravensbruck camp for women and who personally participated in the torture of many Jewish woman. She was recognized by two former inmates of the camp.
