Another false alarm took place in the Austrian ci ? of Graz last night when an anonymous telephone caller, claiming to be a “Jewish ## rrorist,” threatened to blow up a hotel housing British officers. A detailed search revealed no bombs.
In a statement issued in connection with the telephone threats to blow up ?rious buildings in the country during the past week, Interior Minister Oskar Hel?er cautioned the Austrian press against printing sensational stories concerning al?eged terrorist activities. Asserting that such incidents as the landmining of a British troop train in the Austrian Alps last week should not be taken lightly, he requested that the hoaxes should not be given undue publicity. He charged that Jewish DP camps were “headquarters” for “criminal gangs.”
(In Jerusalem tonight the Irgun secret radio termed a “British provocation” London radio broadcast which alleged that the underground organization intended to ?low up American military installations in Vienna. The Irgun announcer declared that the British were attempting to arouse anti-Jewish sentiment among the American people ? such tactics.)
