The policy of the United States Government with regard to problems concerning Israel which will be taken up at the fourth annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, opening tomorrow at Flushing Meadows, was outlined here yesterday by Philip C. Jessup, American ambassador-at-large.
Addressing a meeting of 1.700 persons at the Waldorf-Astoria, Dr. Jessup, one of the leading American U.N. delegates, said that the basic American position on Palestine issues will be: 1. Reconciliation of the main issues between Israel and the Arab neighbors; 2. Support of concrete measures for continued aid to homeless Palestinian refugees.
The U.N. plan for the internationalization of Jerusalem will be one of the major issues discussed at the Assembly. Diplomatic circles here are under the impression that discussion on Jerusalem will not start for several weeks. The Assembly session is expected to last about three months.
