Reports circulating here today said that Israel authorities and King Abdullah of Transjordan have been conducting direct negotiations on the future of Jerusalem and that these talks have progressed to such a stage that an official announcement on an Israel-Transjordan compromise agreement regarding the future status of the Holy City may be issued any day.
The Transjordan monarch, who has been touring the non-Israel part of Palestine, told a gathering today that “we will not allow anyone to internationalize Jerusalem since the Arabs have always been here. We propose to remain the defenders of all the Holy Places of Palestine,” Abdullah added.
