Hans Ehard, Minister-President of Bavaria, this week-end demanded the resignation of his Minister of Justice, Dr. Josef Mueller, because the latter has refused to testify how much money he received from Rabbi Aaron Ohrenstein, who is now on trial together with Philip Auerbach, one-time Restitution Commissioner for Bavaria, on charges of having defrauded the state of over $714,000 in making payments on false restitution claims.

President Ehard has also stated that unless Dr. Mueller resigns, he will oust him. The Justice Minister was fined 500 deutschemarks for refusing to tell a parliamentary committee how much Rabbi Ohrenstein gave him two years ago for “political and charitable purposes.”
