The Israel-Egyptian Mixed Armistice Commission today condemned Egypt for an incident along the Gaza strip border earlier this week in which a large Arab unit attack an Israeli patrol, wounding one soldier and kidnapping a second.

The MAC called upon the Egyptians to return the imprisoned Israeli soldier by tomorrow. In severe language it called upon the Egyptians to prevent further incidents of this kind.

(Britain today accused Egypt of employing German Nazi officers to teach Egyptian troops sabotage and guerrilla tactics and techniques. Lord Reading, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, told the House of Lords: “I believe that about 80 Germans are at present employed by the Egyptian Ministry of War and Marine.”)
