Two more incidents occurred along the Israel-Jordan frontiers today, an Israeli military spokesman announced here. This brings to five the number of incidents along the border in the past three days, in which Israel suffered five dead and several wounded and the Jordanians are known to have suffered at least two killed and several wounded.
Today’s incidents occurred north of Tulkarem where an Israel patrol unit found a Jordanian unit inside Israel and drove it out with gunfire, and in the Kalkilya area where an Israeli unit was fired on from across the border. No casualties were suffered in either affair.
The spokesman revealed that the two-part battle near Wadi Fukien yesterday cost the Israelis a third soldier killed and two more wounded by Jordanian mortar fire. In the first part of the battle, precipitated by a large Jordanian unit of infiltrees two Israelis were wounded and then murdered by the Arabs when the Israeli force retreated before counter-attacking.
