Major Salah Salem’s suggestion that the price of Egypt’s alignment with the West is Israel’s relinquishing of the Negev, was termed here today an “ill-timed trial balloon which could not do Egypt any good.”

Eban addresses the scheduled Security Council meeting this week. Officially neither the American nor the British delegations would make-any comment on Major Salem’s suggestions.
