U.S. Jewry Stands United for Israel, Dr. Goldmann Reports in Jerusalem

A detailed report on American Jewry and the Zionist movement in the United States, particularly its reactions and activities during the Israel operation in the Sinai Peninsula, was presented here today by Dr. Nahum Goldman president of the Jewish Agency to a meeting of the Agency executive.

Dr. Goldmann also reported on the activities of the presidents of 17 major American Jewish groups who have banded together to act on matters pertaining to Israel. Dr. Goldmann declared that American Jewry was united in its concern for Israel.

Dr. Goldman’s report also included information on his talks with non-Zionist organizations about participating in the activities of the Jewish Agency. The stepped up campaigns of the Israel Bond Organization and the United Jewish Appeal and the success of these intensified drives were described to the executive.

Gottlieb Hammer, Executive Secretary of the Jewish Agency in New York and president of the American Israeli Shipping Company, arrived with Dr. Goldmann. He will discuss Jewish Agency matters as well as shipping problems with Zim, the parent line of the American Israeli company.
