Polish Jewry Asks Observance of Warsaw Ghetto Revolt Anniversary

Jews the world over were called upon today by Polish Jewry to unite, in commemorating the heroism of the martyrs of the Warsaw Ghetto 15 years ago, toward safeguarding the peace of the world, fighting against racism and anti-Semitism, and strengthening and enriching the cultural heritage of the Jewish people.

The uprising of the remaining Jews in the Ghetto at Warsaw started on April 19, 1943. Solemn ceremonies, recalling the heroism of the Ghetto fighters, will take place in Warsaw Saturday, in front of the monument consecrated to the memory of the Ghetto martyrs. In many other Jewish centers around the world, similar commemorative services have been scheduled.

The call to world Jewry has been issued by the executive committee of the United Cultural and Social Organizations of Jews in Poland, with headquarters in Warsaw, Copies of the call were received here today.
