The West German Government has officially offered its “services” to help relieve tension in the Middle East and prevent the conflagration from spreading to Israel and other countries in the region, it was learned here today following a Bonn Cabinet meeting last night at which Chancellor Konrad Adenauer told his colleagues that West Germany would continue to follow its policy of neutrality in the current crisis.

Earlier yesterday, the elderly Chancellor had conferred with the Ambassadors of the United States, Britain and United Arab Republic in this capital. Only a week ago, Dr. Adenauer, who has remarked that “no matter what happens President Nasser will remain, ” told newsmen that Germany will keep herself aloof from the Middle East conflict in order to be in a position to carry on conciliation talks with Col. Nasser. He noted that once before, in the Suez-Sinai campaign, Germany, “gave the world this service. “

Meanwhile, several protest demonstrations scheduled by Arab students in Germany against Anglo-American action in the Middle East have been banned by the Federal police.
