The faculty of the University of Frankfurt is considering revoking the medical degree granted to Dr. Josef Mengele, the Auschwitz concentration camp physician who selected inmates for the gas chambers, it was reported today. A notice has been placed on the university bulletin board, summoning Mengele to attend a faculty hearing on July 6.
The Frankfurt prosecution office has offered a reward of 20,000 deutschemarks ($5,000), for information leading to Mengele’s apprehension. He was last reported residing in Argentina, but is believed to have fled from that country to Brazil. In Munich it was reported that the faculty of the University of Munich was considering revoking Mengele’s doctor of philosophy degree.
