“Hi, Kinderlach,” the half-hour radio show for Jewish children tested last fall over radio station WEVD in New York City, will return to the air three times a week on WEVD starting tonight. Sponsored by the National Committee For Furtherance of Jewish Education, the show was considered an outstanding success in its field and often described as the “Jewish Sesame Street.” Rabbi Jacob J. Hecht, NCFJE executive vice president and producer of the show, said, “Our goal is to reach the thousands of Jewish children in the New York area who presently have no affiliation with a synagogue or Jewish Center.” “We want to communicate to these children the heritage of their Judaism, its culture, tradition, laws, customs, music and art.” Stories on the how will be selected from Jewish and Chasidic folklore and music will range from Jewish traditional music to Israeli folk songs. There will also be special program tied in with Jewish holidays. The series will be broadcast Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8:45 P.M. The NCFJE sponsors many educational and service activities in the U.S. and Israel.
