A former SS official, Joachim Nehring, 78, who had been charged with participating in the murder of Jews on two occasions in Galicia during World War II, was declared innocent Wednesday after several witnesses appearing at his trial failed to identify him or provide a detailed account of the events in which he was allegedly involved.
