The U.S. House of Representatives passed a measure on Thursday that would permit the Ten Commandments to be posted in schools and other government buildings. The measure, an amendment to a juvenile justice bill, is part of a package of moves that legislators are mulling to counter youth violence in schools. Some legislators maintain that the growing violence results from the absence of religion in public life.
