Israel’s Knesset confirmed Ehud Barak as the nation’s prime minister. Barak’s 18-member Cabinet, which includes representatives of seven parties, was also sworn in during Tuesday’s session. Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who stepped down as Likud leader following his election defeat seven weeks ago, submitted his resignation from the Knesset before the new government was sworn in.
