Israel’s new leader assured President Clinton during a telephone call that he intends to implement the Wye agreement with the Palestinians. At the same time, Ehud Barak informed Clinton on Monday that he wants to move rapidly into final- status negotiations. The two agreed to meet soon, but did not set a date.
