Syria will have to ensure that Hezbollah gunmen in southern Lebanon are disarmed if it wants to make peace with Israel, according to Israel’s deputy defense minister. “We are coming to these negotiations with power and strength and we have the right to demand what our citizens deserve,” Ephraim Sneh told Israel Radio. He added that Syria will also have to end its alliance with Iran, saying, “If someone seriously desires peace with us, he will have to break off alliances with people who to this day talk about the destruction of Israel.”
