A kosher food store in Kansas City, Kan., is now forbidden from selling wine to individuals unless they are “purchasing it on behalf of a church or religious organization.” The Kansas Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control previously allowed Jacobson’s Strictly Kosher Foods, the only kosher store in the city, to sell wine for home use even though it lacks a liquor license. But it recently reversed this policy, forcing many Jews to travel to Missouri for their Passover and Shabbat wine.
