A former prime minister and a veteran politician were named as formal candidates for Israel’s presidency. The Knesset vote between Labor’s Shimon Peres and Likud’s Moshe Katsav, who are seeking to replace Ezer Weizman in the largely ceremonial post, is slated for July 31.
