Ten volumes from the 1520 Bomberg edition of the Talmud sold for $1.2 million at the New York-based auction house of Kestenbaum & Company. Purchased Nov. 28 by an anonymous Jewish buyer, the tractates had been part of the London Beit Din Library’s book collection, which was established in the late 18th century by Britain’s first chief rabbi, Solomon Hirschell.
