The Canadian Jewish Congress endorsed a decision by the nation’s Cabinet to denaturalize a former interpreter for a Nazi unit that murdered thousands of Jews during World War II. Denaturalization would likely be a prelude to deportation for Helmut Oberlander, a 77-year-old Ontario resident accused of lying about his wartime activities when he entered Canada after the war.
